Awards and discounts are subject to eligibility rules and terms & conditions set by Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed Malaysia). The schemes below include published percentages and published criteria.

Foundation Academic Excellence Award

Published 100% or 50% discount on NUMed Foundation fees (criteria-based)

Award value (published)

100% discount on NUMed Foundation fees (eligible students).
50% discount on NUMed Foundation fees (eligible students).
The award is stated as applicable to both local and international students.

Important implementation note (published)

The award is not applied during pre-enrolment; it is offset against the first-year tuition fees of the MBBS or BSc Biomedical Sciences programme once the student has enrolled and met the conditions.

Eligibility (published)

Completed high school education with 8As in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and one other subject at SPM/IGCSE or equivalent; and
Achieve a CGPA of 4.00 in the Foundation in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from NUMed Malaysia.
Based on receiving an unconditional offer letter and being a registered student at NUMed Malaysia.

Family Discount

Tuition fee discount for family members of current students and past graduates

Value & duration (published)

Value: 10% of the tuition fee per year.
Duration: Duration of the degree programme.
Students must apply for the family discount on a yearly basis (renewal subject to academic progress).

Eligibility (published)

Only available to students studying at the NUMed Malaysia campus.
Applies to husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, fathers and mothers of alumni or current students at the university who register at NUMed Malaysia for a degree programme.
Successful applicants cannot be in receipt of any other scholarship schemes (per the stated terms).

Vice Chancellor’s Merit Awards

Progression awards for academic distinction (published award value)

Award value & duration (published)

Each award is for one year.
Each award is equivalent in value to 10% of the annual fee.

Who it applies to (published)

Undergraduate: progression awards for students who achieved academic distinction in their previous year of study.
Foundation: top students who excel in a Foundation programme will be considered.

Merit Awards are awarded based on academic performance within the programme. Ask us about progression if you want to plan your study pathway.

Value: 20% Graduate Discount deduction from your tuition fees.
Duration: applies for all full years of study (for eligible courses).

2% Early Payment Discount

Tuition fee discount when annual fees are paid in full by the required time

Eligibility (published)

Available when you pay your annual tuition fees in full at or before the registration date.
The discount will be applied automatically when you pay your annual tuition fee in full.
Not eligible if tuition is being paid for in full by a tuition fee loan or sponsorship (per the stated conditions).

If you’re planning to pay upfront, this discount can reduce annual tuition slightly (subject to the published rules). Ask us about payment timing for your intake.
